DIY Carpet Projects

After surfing the web for hours, I finally came upon a perfect project for all you Carpet Lovers. I call this a DIY Carpet Projects, or in other words, Do It Yourself Carpet Projects.

We all know how expensive carpet can be and yet how inexpensive a floor mat can be. Although, if you love printed patterns, you usually have to pay a little extra. The truth is if you are handy with your hands then you can end up creating your own styles and patterns for much less. I found two fairly intermediate projects that anyone with time and a creative mind can do.

The first project is simple. I found this DIY project from Design Improvised to creating an Outdoor Rug.

You Will Need:

  • Plain outdoor rug
  • Masking Tape
  • Drop Clothes (Material to prevent paint from getting on floor, carpet, etc.)
  • Outdoor spray paint

Step 1: Find an area with a lot of room for the outdoor rug to lay flat

Step 2: Using the masking tape, begin to create a design of your choice. In Design Improvised, she used vertical and diagonal lines for a pattern.

Step 3: Go outside or in a well-ventilated area, and begin spray painting the outdoor rug in the colors you choose. You could alternated colors or keep it basic with one choice of color.

Step 4: Apply two or more coats, depending on how opaque you would like and wait at least 15 minutes between every coat.

Step 5: Let your outdoor rug dry fully for 24 hours.

Step 6: Careful remove the masking tape and your New Outdoor Rug is ready to use.

Stay tuned for our next blog, where I will show you the 2nd DIY Carpet Project I found…
